Deputy Mayor T. Richard Bethea has served the residents of Bass River Township as Commissioner of Revenue & Finance since 1973,and as Mayor & Commissioner of Revenue & Finance from 1984 to 2007.
Background
A resident of Bass River since 1972 with my wife, Nikki and daughters Nicole and Jessica. Graduated Edison High School and attended Seton Hall University prior to serving in the U.S. Army from 1969 - 1971. I am a State of New Jersey Certified Municipal Finance Officer and Tax Collector. I am currently employed by the Borough of Ship Bottom as Borough Administrator, Finance Officer and Tax Collector and my tenure there has spanned the last twenty years.
Community Involvement
Member of the Land Use Board, with a total of more than 20 years Land Use Board experience Member of Pinelands Council of Mayors, previously serving as treasurer for six years. Member of Great Bay Regional E.M.S. , serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and answering first aid calls as a licensed E.M.T. Member of Bass River Township Municipal Alliance Member of Bass River Township Environmental Commission. Fund Commissioner of Burlington County Joint Insurance Fund Member of American Legion Post #493 Member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 200
